After completing B.A. Honours in English Language and Literature at Melbourne University, Julia Davis studied singing with the Opera Studio at The Victorian College of the Arts for three years after which she worked professionally as a singer in opera.

Julia's involvement in puppetry began six years ago when she made some puppets for a school production of The Tempest at the secondary school where she teaches English part-time. She was hooked.

"I’ve always loved ‘making things’ , and making something which could also be brought to life is especially thrilling." says Julia. Since then Julia has made about sixty puppets; nearly half of these are Celebrity Puppets - caricatures of well-known people, from politicians to entertainers (including opera singers).

Julia says "I enjoy making these as they bring a smile of recognition to people’s faces and I’ve performed a few short revue style shows using these puppets. "
